How to start informing you of the last 10 months. Well, It has been, as my blog states, a roller coaster. The kids are growing and changing before my eyes. In Sept. of 2009 Abraham started Junior High and has thoroughly enjoyed his first year at the middle school. He decided to start playing the Viola and to our amazement, he loves it. Just yesterday, he was practicing and Timm looked at me and said, " He really is good. I can't believe he has only been playing since fall". We are enjoying the new sounds of a string instrument in our house. Abe also enjoys singing in the choir at school. I secretly enjoy watching him sing and participate in musicals, because it was so much a part of my school years. I hope it is something that he continues. Abe has also joined Boy Scouts this year and has enjoyed meeting new friends and learning so many valuable things he can use in his life. I had to get over my fears of letting him go on a winter campout. He lasted in the tent until midnight and then retreated to the warmth of the cabin. As the school year comes to a end, he is so looking forward to a wonderful summer. He already has his summer booked up with fun activities. He will be going on a camping trip with Scouts to Rock Island, Door County, and to Scout camp in July. He also has fun classes scheduled for summer school.
It is also amazing to see our young man's heart grow in loving Christ. He has finished his 6th book in AWANA and will receive the Timothy award for doing so. I already know he has a heart for missions and I am looking forward to seeing where this takes him. He loves to serve and participate in Ignitions and Go Kidz programs at church.
Our little girl, Rebecca, is now 8 years old. Second grade has been a good year for her, but also a struggle. As some of you may have experienced, little girls start very young with hurtful words and their best friends seem to change daily. But, she does have some wonderful friends that have made her days enjoyable. She has loved her teacher, Mrs. Ferguson and has learned so much this year. She spends most of her free time playing with he American Girl Kit and Barbie. When I recently asked her what she would like to be when she grows up, she said, "a gymnastics teacher, because I am really good at round offs. " I love her playful spirit. I heard the sweetest sound the other day. While driving in the car, I heard a very faint sweet voice singing. There is no sweeter sound than hearing your baby praise Jesus. Love you, Becca Boo.
Timm has been unemployed for over a year and continues to look for work in the computer networking. I know that this is what God has gifted him it, so it is hard to see him struggling. I pray something comes soon. He has been blessed with some small business contracts and enjoys finding solutions for these customers.
I recently got a promotion at work and am now the Operations Manager at Area Dental Clinic. It has been a challenge training myself in this new position, but I am loving every minute of it. It is not the path I would have imagined my life taking, but it has been a blessing.
As a family we look forward to a wonderful summer. We are planning camping trips, visits to Great America, and Mt. Olympus, and spending a lot of time at the pool. As always, I know it will go fast, so I will try to savor every moment.
Our year has also had it's rough spots. Our loved ones have been hit with loss and struggles. In November of 2009, my very close friends Sarah and Darrin, unexpectedly lost their 3 yrs old boy, Henry. We were all shocked how quickly he left us. The journey in healing has been a blessing to watch. God can do amazing things to grieving hearts. But, we all miss him so much. There is a memorial being set up at the Oshkosh Zoo by the turtle pond. Henry loved animals and I will always remember his sweet voice making all the animal sounds.
In January of 2010, our 4 yr old nephew Brayden, was diagnosed with bone cancer. No one ever expects cancer to hit their family, but it has. Well, through chemo, surgery and radiation, we believe God is going to heal him. He has recently had his fibula removed from his right leg and is already running and playing. I have seen such strength in Rob, Teresa, and Brayden through this journey. We love them so much and look forward to more miracles from God.
I always wondered why Mom always said, "One day at a time". Now I know, because that is all we can handle. And God will give us the strength we need for that one day.
So, in a nutshell, that is our past 10 months. As I sit here writing I am listening to the birds singing, and enjoying a beautiful spring morning. God is good. I will try to do a better job updating this blog. I wish you all a wonderful summer and hope to see you soon.
